Markdale

Markdale, the centre of Grey County. This bustling community of 1400 people (and growing!) provides the ultimate in small town hospitality and old time charm. Markdale was settled in 1846 and has managed to maintain its history through the decades by preserving many of the old buildings and celebrating its heritage through annual events like the fall fair. (In late August) Don’t be fooled, Markdale offers many modern amenities as well. Markdale is home to commerce and recreation year round. Home to Beavercrest Elementary School, the Centre Grey Hospital, shopping and banking.

Markdale also accommodates the Grey Highlands municipal buildings and Grey Gables long term care facility. Industry has also found its place in Markdale offering employment opportunity, driving the community and local economy. Industry is not the only driving force in the economy, check out the Markdale Golf and Curling club, artisan guilds, and other sports clubs. Markdale also offers several places of worship. Next time you drive through Markdale, look closer, there is a lot to explore.
